Oh sorry Steve. Surgery isn't much fun! I haven't had any major surgery myself for Crohn's as I'm just newly diagnosed so can't offer much insight - though they did a laparoscopy as part of my investigations in January. (Keyhole surgery so I had no problems and not much pain etc.) You must be fed up. I hope they're going to get it done quickly and not keep you waiting too long. And I hope the meds work to keep you comfortable in the meantime. From looking at other posts, surgery does at least offer a good possibility of long remission to look forward to. Keep us posted,
Gail

The result as in the x-ray will be ready fairly quickly but it will need a visit to your consultant to explain the results to you. So basically you will know the results the next time you see your consultant.

Hi

I had one many years ago, so I don't know if the same will still apply. They gave me this drink that didnt taste that great, then laid you down on a bed which tipped up, very weird sensation, you can see your insides glowing like ready brek man and watch the barium going through your system, if you have any leaks or blockages you'll see it track off or stop.

It does take a while to go through your system and may may poo blue or green poo a few days later. It'l put you off slush puppies forever

As I said mine was about 20 years ago now, so the system may have changed, but if it hasnt then thats the basics of it, the plus side is its non invasive.

Good luck

I have a test on Tuesday 21st Sept, I am not looking forward to it.
I had something similar in 1999 before I got properly diagnosed but it was a scan. I was given a large lemonade size bottle with the liquid in asking me to drink it all. I didn't quite manage all.
After I got home and had dinner is went straight through me. It kinda kicked the Crohns off properly. I am worried it will do the same again this time. That time I also had to have die injected into me from a tube. I presume the X ray won't have the die as well.
This is to check out to see if my Crohns is rearing up again or I have scar tissue from previous flare up. If it's the later then it will be an op like I believe the gentleman up above mentioned.
I have had Camera in all directions. At least I not got to take that awful Picalax to clear out the bowels. My body does not respond to that very well.

Wow, just Googled this whilst in the hospital. The little booklet they gave me never mentioned any side effects, but then I suppose all the side effects mentioned are due to us suffering from Crohns possibly and not aimed at Joe Public.
Anyway, I'm due in at 3.15 so byyyye.
Oh, and the taste of Ouzo shouls be fine...
