About 3/4 months ago I became ill in what seemed like a second.

One minute I was fine, the next I came across all confused and felt like I wasnt really in control of my body. After going to sleep and waking up fine in the morning I thought I had just had a funny phase. This was until the next evening when I started to feel exactly the same again and this time I was also suffering with my stomach. I felt like I needed a bowel movement but was struggling to get anything out, it then seemed like it was coming back up from my stomach and a few minutes later I was vommiting badly. It was now at the stage where this was happening all day every day for a month, at which point I got fed up and went to the doctors.

The doctor said it was more than likely i just had a small infection that would dissapear soon enough. So after leaving it another week I went back and got told exactly the same. Now my symptons were getting worse. I was vommitting as soon as any food touched my stomach, I had severe wind all the time which was causing alot of stomach pain on my lower left side, all my joints were aching and cracking at the slightest movement, and I kept having blurred vision and my eyes were bright red asif full of blood.

After going to the doctors a third time I was giving some antacid tablets to help with my wind and told to come back after a week. Two days later I was took into hospital after collapsing at home after vomitting all night. While in hospital for a week I had an enodoscopy and a barium meal follow through and then sent home. I was told the results will take a couple of weeks, then I will have an appointment to go through results. My speciallist explained he thought I had crohns disease but will speak to my when results come back.

Im expecting a letter asking me to go for my appointment and results sometime soon. Now im back at home I do feel better than I did but still not good. Symptons at the moment are constipation/soft stools always covered in yellow/orange mucus, feel fatigued after any bowel movement, joint pain, nervousness/lack of concentration and not been able to sleep/night sweats. Also got swollen glands everywhere causing me grief. All in all ive lost 2 stone even though im eating as normal.

Just wondered if anyone is suffering the same kind of symptons or whether my symptons do sound like cd. My sister is a sufferer of ulcerative collits.

Thanks
Andrew

Hi Andy.
You're specialist is the only one to give give you a definitive answer but many of your symptoms could be due to crohns.
The range of symptoms is huge and everybody reacts differently at different times. The vomiting can happen if you have a severe bowel blockage and you keep eating. Eventually there is no more room and something has to give. If it won't go down so it has to come back up. Not pleasant as you know. Happend only once to me but once is enough. I find that I get like an acid reflux in the throat when things are jammed for too long. I take this as an early warning and stop eating. Just drink plenty of water- slowly and small amounts of food until things improve.
When you're blocked up, gas can still get through, but it's this that causes alot of pain as it passes the diseased area if it's your small intestine that is the problem.
Joint pains can go hand in hand with flare ups. Psoriasis is another common symptom.
Your fatigue/pains/lack of sleep ect are the same kind of thing I had before my operation. You are probably suffering malnutrition/ dehydration and your body is trying to fight an infection inside.
Can't help on the eye problem but there are links between crohns and conjuncivitus.
Crohns could explain all your symptoms but I'm sure that other problems could also have the same symptoms so unfortunately it's a waiting
game and you need the results from your specialist.
Hope things improve for you soon and let us know how you go on.
regards, Dave.
