How is it that we have to pay for prescriptons?Apparently I have been told,Crohns isnt
a specified condition to approve free prescriptions.This world has gone mad.

I have 7 different tablets a day,and they cost a packet,and if your on a low income
they can be very pricey.I have a certificate that i pay £27.85 for 3 months.I used to pay the
whole 12 months,but with things going up,can now only pay every 3 months.
But some people are on a lot more medication,and i have heard of some people not taking
  tablets because they cant afford them,and rather put themselves at risk.This is madness,
yet if someone has a inactive thyroid they get free medication straight away.

Its about time this goverment realised how many people there are with Crohns,and give us
free prescriptions.

Not actually spending much on meds but I know what you mean.
Still not happy but it's nothing to do with costs. I'm just a miserable git.

I have an annual pre-paid prescription card... £100 or so, but it saves a lot of hassle!

mine is £13.00 for 3 months in the u.k and i have to say i def get my moneys worth of meds lol , ALthough i do agree this is a cronic diease and should be free prescriptions just like people with resp problems and diabetics

I must say currently I pay for each prescription and I really begrudge paying the seven pounds only for that medication to have horrid side effects so I have to come off it - what a waste of money!!  

i was told i had crohns in feb and the amount i have spent on drugs already is alot we should be able to get it free i got alot and then because i couldnt take them i was told to come off them and try other ones it cost a fortune

I completly agree.... I thought I heard that there is a campaign to get them for free.... I was debating on moving to Wales!!!

I don't know what I would do if prescription drugs were not available for me.  I do have an insurance program that pays a good portion.  What a horrible situation that some of us face, with the price of the drugs and the health care in general.  The economy doesn't help either.  
Can I ask?  Are any of you on governmental health care?  I just wondered how that works for you.

as im disabled and on incom support i get my scripts free but if meds cost a lot try getting a pre paid certificate approx £30 for 3 months worth scripts as many as you need or think its £90 for a year so in the long run works out cheaper to buy than prescription charges  so if you need more than 5 scripts in 3 months this will instantly save you money mine approx 10 scripts a month not including vit b12 jabs every 3 months hope this helps

oh u can get a 5 year excemption certificate if u tell the dr you cant get out on your own what!!!!!!!

hi dave, i dont know your personally circumstances, but i have crohns and i have a illeostomy, having the stoma means i get free prescirptions, all my medication is free not just the ones i need for crohns. shraon xx

mmm, i see Sharon,thanks for the message.I wonder,because you have stoma that
you become excempt.I cant make head nor tail of it,some people get it,others cant.
Iam on a very tight budget,and pay for my certificate every 3 months, i cant pay up
front,its just too costly.

I'm glad Callum is 12 and gets his free, what with the Modulen (about £20 a tin I have been told), the Prednisolone, and the Azathioprine (made up specially in liquid for him, about £40 a bottle!), he would be costing me a fortune right now!

It must be so frustrating and annoying to spend money on meds and then they don't work and they put you on more. I would get angry at that.
