Hi Lisa,
I would be very interested to know how you get on with this. On the whole, we have had a lack of advice on the diet front. To me it makes sense that whatever you put in your mouth must have some effect on the gut and therefore if the sufferer can find out what triggers the inflammation, they can avoid that food/ingredient. We went with Ben,my son, to a herbalist which was interesting, and we tried to go dairy free and reduce our wheat intake. We did have some success and we had a brief spell off the steroids, but we were never sure if that was just co-incidence or not. He has since relapsed and is back on the steroids, so he's eating and drinking whatever he wants within reason, you know how hungry the steroids make them! We try to keep to a good balanced diet, but never know if even a seemingly healthy food could be causing the problem. How are you going about determining what your son can have /should avoid? How did you get the nutrtionist involved, was ir via the hospital or have you organised it yourselves? I hope you don't mind me asking but I' m really interested in pursuing this sort of treatment as an alternative to drugs given the young age of Ben.
Thanks for the message by the way, Ive only just picked it up, let's hope we can be of support for each other,
Mary.
