Hey oldwitch  (that sounded too much like an insult lol)

I had surgery when i was 14 and it just complicated things, im no better now than i was then! (just missing 30cm of my gut) it was a result of a blockage so i suppose it was nececery just the worst possible time of my life to have it,
I dont like docters using the word "should" because it also means they dont have a clue, ask ur doc to check ur b12 levels to be sure, I'll be having my 4monthly b12 jab 2moro and they bloody hurt lol but not unbearable and only last few secs plus u feel more awake after a couple days.   Andy

Hi,

Poor you. The consultants really need a kick up the backside and some education about how to talk to people.
I really think that you need to give things more time to settle. The surgeon who did Ben's op said to us that adults would need to take 3 months as a minimum to recover from such a major op! Think about the trauma your body has been through, add that to the damage done by the crohns and the poor nutrition you are getting through poor absorption of vitamins etc. That is alot to recover from. You also then have the psychology of this disease to deal with. Everyone who has any type of major surgery has a post op depression stage usually. It's all part of what you have been through and the feeling that maybe it won't have worked. It sounds as though your op was to remove a very damaged part of the bowel and given that you have crohns throughout the gut, it will take a while to recover from this. I feel as though you need a big hug! Well done for getting through the op and the initial post op phase. If I were you I would go and do something to cheer me up, what about a pampering session or an evening out at the cinema? I think you are doing brilliantly and deserve a treat.
