Good morning!
I have a question regarding medications.  Currently I am on 2mg Mesalazine twice a day, 1 x pill for neuralgia and 1 x pill for low iron levels.  The morning dose is fine as I just take the mesalazine, but at night before I go to bed I'm having the mesalazine, iron pill and neuralgia pill all one after the other, plus the contraceptive pill too!  These last three mornings I've been suffering bad diarrea which lasts until about midday.  Am I taking these night time meds too close together do you think?

Hi,

i've been on mezalazine and other drugs, i was told by my consultant to take all of your tablets in the morning, so they can work through your body during the day, then take your second mezalazine at night.
that will be the best way for you.
i was on mezalazine for several years and took my tablets in the morning then the other dose in the evening and i've never had a problem.

so thats what i suggest.. it works!!
hope it all goes well!

From Wikipedia:

"Side effects of therapy with iron are most often diarrhea or constipation and epigastric abdominal discomfort. Taken after a meal, side effects decrease but there is an increased risk of interaction with other substances. Side effects are dose-dependent, and the dose may be adjusted."

BUPA's and Patient UK's websites also say the same thing.  None of the sites say what time of day to take them.

I would imagine that if you took the iron in the morning you should be ok during the day but then be up all night with diarrhoea?  I guess it's better to have it during the day!
