Hi,

has anyone had any success at all with trying to control crohn's with diet?

Would like to give it a go for my son but have no support from the medical team, don't know where to start.

Thanks,

Mary

Hi Mary k

I have just been to see the nutritionist this morning....and I have been without any flare ups for few months, which is fantastic! although I am suffering with severe rib and bone pain.

The nutritionist/dietitian has been giving me advice to introduce foods slowly, so food that I haven't eaten in over year and half will gradually be reintroduced ! one at a time ! I just hope things don't go pear shape 6 months or so down the road ! Bone pain is  my main problem and ribs, so the last thing I need is to become ill again!

The dietician seemed supprised that I had my own lists of foods I don't eat and foods I do eat which are safe foods ? I told her when you have been ill with crohns you learn to listen to your body and eat what you know is safe.
In my experience I found that doctors do not have all the answers and you do have to get on with things yourself a lot.

Good luck with your son, maybe you could ask for a nutritionist for him ? I asked a few times befor it was arranged for me.

Thanks for the reply Peanut.

Will see how Ben recovers from his op and then maybe request a nutritionists input.

Thanks again,
