Hi there, my Son Callum is just about to start this too, he's 12, and our Consultant says that more serious things like chickenpox and shingles are likely to make you ill, rather than common colds.

There is supposed to be an information leaflet on the NACC website about Aza, just off to find it myself now.

Hi i was taking Azathioprine for 5 years and it did not cause me any real problems only that I caught colds really easy because it does diminish your imune system.

Dont worry about taking them, you will just be sent for regular blood tests.

Regards

Andrew

Hi all,

As every one above has said, I've been taking aza for years now, I just get colds alot, but having regular blood tests keeps an eye kn everything, and popping in for my inflix every 8 weeks, I am given the once over by the dr's or nurse specialist.

Keep well!

Hi,

I have been on Aza since November and have managed to wean myself off Pred since then, finished completely 4 weeks ago.

In last 4 weeks have been feeling totally whacked and in recent days have begun to feel wobbly and unwell.

Also think my eyesight is deteriorating.

Any ideas or am I just cracking up?

I just started aza in march on 100mg and 40mg pred.  I have had no problems with aza (so far so good)  all my blood tests have been fine.  The only problem is that it takes so long for it to work.  I got told by the doctor up to 3 month before it starts working.  I get as far as 30mg pred and have to go back up to 40mg because symptoms start returning.

I am just new to this too but i think aza all depends on the individual when i was first put on it the doctor did give me a scare with the list of side effects but i just thought to myself  you get side effects with every medicine.  Its about trial and error.  Everyday i just think positive and its going to work for me!!

xx
