hi sue i've recently been diagnosed with crohn's myself after sigmoidoscopy revealed i had colitis. i, like you was having bad abdo pains and the runs, also blood in stooles. I was like this for about 5 years, sometimes i had bad joint pains too. then in august of this year, i collapsed on the bathroom floor with severe pains and blood loss and spent the next 3 weeks in hospital on steroids and tests after tests, eventually i was diagnosed with crohns and inflammatory arthritis, (which failed to show up on any of my bloods) which should hopefully go down when in remission. before diagnosis, i spent some time on tramadol and found them useless, i went on to co-codamol, then on to buprenorphine patches which have given me a bit of relief. dont worry if all these tests come back negative, its not all in your head, you will get diagnosed and treated accordingly in the end... good luck sue. luke
hi, have you worked out if any food make your crohns bad? my food no no's are cows milk and cheese. some people with crohns suffer from fatty foods and/or dairy and spicy foods. when i have a flare i always go onto a plain diet for 2 days. white bread, no marg/butter, jelly and white fish. it just gives my insides a rest. though i am not suggesting you do this without medical advice first as i dont know your circumstances. sharon
hi 14 days ago i was rushed into hospital with suspected appendix had xray and ultra sound and was told i had inflamation of the small bowel and it was not my appendix i have had a ct scan last week and having a colonoscopy tomorrow the consultant said it looks like crohns i still have pain in my lower right hand side also lower back and hip pain on my right side can anyone help as i dont know much about crohns thanks
All your symptoms match mine and I do have crohns. We will always offer support to you, but everyone's case is different. I react very badly to onions and fatty food but others react to milk and wheat products. I put myself on a really bland diet and noted when the pain etc got worse. One thing that I have picked up is most of use feel very tired a lot of the time, I know I certainly do. Try the NACC website (nacc.co.uk) they will give you alot of information and support. Keep in touch and let us know how you get on. Dawn x
Welcome to the forums, I hope things go well in hospital. It is difficult to generalise as we all seem to have slightly different symptoms and the symptoms come and go as Crohn's flares up and dies down on some random cycle that nobody understands. Crohn's is no fun but if it does turn out that is what you have then we are the people to come and talk to. We might not be much help medically but we can certainly give you a sympathetic ear; an idea of what to expect; suggestions on how to get through things and just somewhere to get things off your chest!
had my colonoscopy last week my ct scan was abnormal so they have taken 4 biopsies from section A and 10 from section B have to wait for my appointment for the hospital for my results is this normal as im scared stiff about it thanks
