Hi Everyone,

Callum been on the Aza for 9 days and last night was awful, he woke me at 2.45am in horrible pain in his knees, sobbing and could hardly stand up. Consultant today says its a side effect of the Aza and they may have to take him off it and put him on something else.

Anyone else had this side effect? Any info would be good, thanks.

Hi Lynn

Yes, I was on Aza for 10 days and had to stop due to flu like symptons and aching joints, then about a week after stopping my pelvis completely seized and I ended up at hospital with sacroilitus (spelling.?), which seemed to be due to the Aza.  Since then I have been put on 6 mercaptopurine (not so many side effects) but have just stopped prednisolone and have started to have aching joints, particularly knees and legs.

Poor little Callum, hope they get him sorted soon.

Hi Lou,

Its 1 step forward and 2 back with Crohns, you just think they have found the right drug for you and then another thing rears its ugly head! I have had enough already, and its not even happening to me!

The Pred has done wonders, his ESR was 77 and thats down to 5, and his CRP was 20 and now its 0.7, and thats just in 2 weeks.

I am even more worried now about the Aza and what it is doing to him. More sleepless nights I think.
