Hi Everyone, saw the Consultant today, they want Callum off his Pred in 9 weeks, they think the side effects are overshadowing any positive result, they also want another barium x-ray before Xmas, the outcome of which will determine whether we travel from Cornwall to Bristol for an operation - depends if the Crohns is only located in one place. If not, we have to try another medication.

Callum is beyond fed up now, he is so low. Spoke to his teacher and he won't go back to school now till January.

I am dreading him needing an op - he is 12 years old for heavens sake, we shouldn't be chopping him up and taking bits out.

The barium will be bad enough, a day & a half of starving him, then the Picolax - that made him vomit last time he had it. Then the actual drinking of the gloop and the x-rays.

Oh joy.

Hi Lynn,

have just replied on the other thread and then read this one. Ben has had the operation to remove some of his small bowel, in May this year. He recovered very well, however, because there was active crohn's in his large bowel also, he has still not gone into remission. Hence he is now on the modulen. If you need to talk, or Callum would like to talk to Ben maybe, just let us know, we can always exchange numbers.

Take care,

Mary.
