I am hoping that one of you may be able to help me.  I was diagnosed 18 months ago, and have tried all of the usual medication to control Crohns.  Started with pentasa, next aza, then Mercaptopurine (never spell that one right !) and more...  In theory they have all worked - but after a few weeks I get awful mouth sores and I am a nightmare to live with - feeling stressed and emotional.  

The consultant seems cross with me for not being able to take the tablets - he believes I should ignore the side effects, but unfortunately I can not.  

I do not have severe Crohns, but I tried leaving it without any medication and was ill in the summer.  I have my next appointment with the consultant this week and I am worried about what he will suggest next.

Does anyone have any ideas ?  Or has anyone had similar side effects ?  I would appreciate any guidance.  Thank you.

I was dignosed with Crohns disease 12 years ago and I have taken all sort of medication for it, but I have been taking Mesalazine for nearly 10 years now and had no real side effects from it but ocassionally get a sore mouth which you say you have been suffering from. I have just put it down to having crohns because it can appear anywhere in you GI tract.  I also took Azathioprine for 5 years which diminishes your imune system and it made me get cold really easy.

I am sure thay will find the right medication for you in the end.
