Oli, I'm not sure why they would be particularly useful to Crohn's sufferers but then I'm not sure why they would be any use to non-sufferers either. Maybe in certain specific circumstances such as if your get flora has been blitzed by Chemo but otherwise I doubt it. Mind you my daughter swears by them so who knows

Hi Guys, I was given the actimel drinks whilst I was in hospital. When I asked the consultant and diet nurse at a NACC meeting they said there was no proof that they worked but like all things some people can get on with them and others can't. If you can't tolerate milk products don't bother. I use them when I am on steriods because it helps line my stomach and eases the reflux.

I asked the colitis doc about this this week.  She said there's not been any trials to see if live bacteria like acidophilus helps with either IBD or IBS, but there's anecdotal evidence to say it may help.

I've taken acidophilus tabs for some time now and not noticed any difference, although I'm not taking as many as they say you can in a day.  I may even stop taking them when I run out.

Hope this helps (hopefully not confuses more!).
