Just thought i'd post on here and say hello to you all

I'm 40 year old - and about 3 years ago i had a bad flare up of crohn's which the hospital said it was gastroenteritis.

I've also had two small flare ups about a year ago but nothing major.
It's only since January this year i had it bad again with all the common signs.

i was admitted into hospital to have a blood tranfusion as i lost alot of blood and my Hemoglobin was Low.

Then when i came out i had a Endoscopy to look into my tummy and nothing really found.

Then a week ago i had a Colonscopy and all my colon was Inflamed.
I then had an appointment to see a Gastro Specialised yesterday and he told me i've got Crohn's.

I had a feeling it was that as my Grandad had it and i've heard it can be hereditary.

Anyway they have put me on Prednisolone and i'm waiting to see a Nurse to get some Azathioprine.

Just thought i would share it with you all as i would like to talk to people with the same problem.

Welcome to the forum Darren. We're a friendly bunch and always happy to welcome new members. Getting diagnosed is half the battle, I hope the first treatment they try works for you.

Thank's for the welcome - i think i'm just so happy that i know what it is - lots of thing's was going through my mind..... could it be this or that.

Hi Darren,

Welcome. My situation is very similar to yours. I'm 44 and just diagnosed just over a month ago, after three years of ill-health. I'm also now on Prednisolone 25mgs - been on it a month and feeling great - and waiting to try Azathiaprine so I can get off it eventually.
Hopefully we can swap notes on our progress!
