I have to have small bowel MRI on Friday and didn't feel too bad about it until now !  Hope we both get through it ok.  I am a bit worried about the stuff  I have to drink before it.  The last stuff I had in hospital when I had an obstruction and they need to xray gave me 12 hours of poo like I have never known before, hope this don't have the same effect, anyone out there know ?

The good thing about an MRI is that it's safer radiation wise than a CT scan...and much more detailed....so it will be worth it! Good luck Sue and Linney!

Hi linney, this one was actually a lot better, cause they let me go in feet first, so i didnt feel so trapped in, as for the loo twice in the space of 5 mins before, and then i was alright while i was in there, i was actually in there 25 mins so im really proud of myself. i like you think its the stress and anxiety of it all, and yes your right it doesnt help us crohnnies, let me know how you go on hunni , when do you go for your, tc xxxsuexxx

Ty all for the good luck wishes  it means alot  to me xxxsuexxx tc all

Hi tattyteds, glad to hear it all went well with no emergency exits !  Mine is tomorrow morning first thing with nothing to eat or drink for 8 hrs before but I have to have 1 ltr of gunk to drink before, did you have that ?  I will be very careful what I eat today anyway so fingers crossed.  What the hell its a hospital they should be used to poo !  Had a bad day yesterday, think I am 'backing up', hence the MRI, yesterday was the 'unblock' day if you get my drift lol !  Anyway get tomorrow over then I will get results next Thursday and hopefully will have some answers.  when do you find out the result to yours.  thnks for support it really helps. x

Hi guys, well I got through it !  The scan itself was fine, bit noisy but I had problems with the litre of stuff you have to drink.  It had the same effect on my stomach as the prep you have for a colonoscopy, within half hour of finishing it I was diving for the loo (thank goodness the waiting room wasn't busy) It made being in the scanner for 20 mins very interesting lol, and the journey home too !  Anyway all done and I will get the results on Thursday next week lets hope it will have been worth the suffering (I swear I was pooing stuff I haven't even eaten yet !!!)

Hiya All,
Hope you all got thru` it o.k.  When I read about all of you and your problems, you don`t mention anything about loperamide to control the "runs". I take 6  2mg capsules per day and they give me a measure of control. Anybody else take them? Something else I wanted to know, Any info on RADAR? What is it?
Thanks guys,

Hi delilah, my consultant told me to stop taking lopermide, because all it was doing was masking the complaint, he needed it to be at its worse, to know what he was dealing with, as for the radar is a special key you can get for the use in the disabled toilets, try searching on radar on google, not sure what the website is, think its radar. co.uk  i acyually got mine from my local coucil office and paid £3.50 for it, worth its weight in gold. tc all xxxsuexxx

Hi Delilah.

The RADAR keys are available from

http://www.radar.org.uk

Go to the RADAR-SHOP page at the top and look for the NKS key.

My Mum had one for my dad when he was alive, he had parkinsons.

Regards

Ian H
