Hi guys, I just wanted to know about soya products. I was looking on an USA site who was saying some people find cutting dairy from there diets help. I don't suffer with diarrhea very often, but I do get a lot of pain. Has anyone tried it?? Did it help to reduce pain, or does it only help with diarrhea? I'm still waiting to speak to the gastroenterologist (how ever u may spell it!!), I'm hoping when they start my meds it will help! It's all such a waiting game!! I fly to oz in 4 weeks, and really want to have started treatment before then, or I'm going to find in tuff!!
Hope u have all enjoyed the lovely weather!! X

Hi,

I gave up dairy over a year ago...only have soya milk...i have noticed a change...not anything major though. still have days of running to the loo but not sure if this would have been a lot worse if I still had dairy.

Worth a try. We all have different food tolerance and 2 years after being diagnosed I am still learning what I can eat and what I cant.

Hi Jemma,
I switched from milk to soya milk a few months ago. The soya dairy substitutes gave me a bit of wind so I switched to rice milk which tastes better and comes in calcium enriched formulas. I don't know if it's helped cos I've been on steroids but I think that it's worth making a change just because lactose is very hard to digest for most people. It can't do any harm.

Hi Jemma, I switched to soya before I knoew I had Crohns (thought it was IBS) and thought it made a difference.  If I have any cream/creamy sauces or things like dips or soft cheese I know I will pay for it.  Soya tastes a bit strange at first but now I couldn't stand the taste of milk, you can also get soya yoghurts and and ice cream substitute called Sweden Glace which is scrummy !
