I'm waiting for confirmation of Crohn's following a sigmoidoscopy last Saturday. It's all been a bit of a roller-coaster - out of nowhere I developed diarrhoea which ended up mostly blood and mucus with the worst thing being the urgency. Went to see the GP and got a referral and the sigmoidoscopy quite quickly. I've been put on 40mg prednisolone tapering down over a 3 week period, and am due to get another appointment to talk to another consultant about medication I assume. The pred has helped and I'm not having the urgency problem but am still passing blood. No other symptoms thank God so no stomach pains. Will the pred stop the bleeding or does that have to wait? Glad I've found this forum!

Hi Patsy, sorry you have had to join us, but welcome.  The Pred will definately help with pain and urgency and frequency, not sure about the blood as I never have that but someone on here will sure to be able to answer that.  Everyone has a different story and it is really good to talk. Take care x

Thanks Linney. I guess it takes time to find what works - just seems so long since I went to the toilet 'normally'! I think the bleeding is definitely less and it's good to feel I can go out shopping etc. without being struck down. I feel I've been quite lucky compared with what it seems some people have to deal with.
