I have just joined and can't seem to find anyone that can relate to the same symptoms of Crohns that i have.

My symptoms are Nausea, Vomitting, Weight loss, anemia, fatigue, Stomach Pains which comes and goes like contractions.  The pain can move round into your lower back.  I also have normal 1 maybe 2 stool movements a day.  The stools look normal never had diarhia, but i do have urges where i have to go to the toliet thinking that i am away to have a bowel movement but nothing happens.  I have a weird empty feeling when i have passed a stool and also i have a strong cramps up to an hour after passing a stool.  I also get bloated and sometimes i can look 6 month pregnant.  It maybe doesn't make much sense but when my belly is growling and making noises which it does on a dialy basis i can feel it tightning and its unconfortable, sometimes pain accompied with the growling noises.

I think because i haven't read or heard anyone speak about crohns disease without diarhia its harder to accept you have it.
I was diagnosed wtih Crohns Disease of the small bowel with narrowing.  Awaiting a MRI Small Bowel Scan in June, and am currently on 40mg pred and 100mg azathioprine.

Thank you for reading my thread. xx

Hello Bo, I have very similar symptoms to you, though I can go a few times a day it's not loose. I get right sided cramping pain which comes and goes, nausea though I'm rarely sick. I get really bad bloating and rumbling guts which is often worse when the pain is bad. Do you feel tired? I get bad fatigue, it's been the worse symptom for me. I've been on 40mg of pred since end of Jan, tapering now and on 6 MP, not sure pred has done much of anything and too early to say with the 6 MP. Have you lost weight? I lost 2 stone prior to diagnosis and have only gained a couple of pounds on the pred. i have same diagnosis as you too. Keep in touch and good luck x

Yeah i have lost about 3 1/2 stone all together.  Since bein on pred i have put on about 10lb since March so not too bad.  I don't think pred doing much for me ether but still early days the doctor says so am trying to stay positive.  Have u any side effects with the pred?  Am getting the shakes, my hands are constantly shaking but thats all i have so i am not complaining!! My worst symptom would be the same as you constantly tired and drained.  Its a horrible tiredness which doesn't seem to go away with any about of sleep you have.   I have also go dark eyes there not as dark as they were.  Is this anemia which causes dark eyes?  Thank you for replying i feel better already with knowing someone out there is experiencing the same as me.  xx

Hi Bo,

Please read my thread....I suffer so badly from bloating, it is by faaar the worst symptom I have experienced and I very rarely hear of people with crohn's complaining of the same thing! I have a lot of other symptoms too but that is by far the worst as it affects my day to day life. Before I was diagnosed, all of my symptoms were very similar to yours. I was also put on the same meds, which I hated. I'm now at a loss as to where to turn next.

xx

Hi Nicole, I don't get bloating now as much as I used to but a few years ago it was awful.  For some reason I was ok in the morning but as the day went on I swelled up like a balloon, very uncomfortable.  Don't get it so much now but it is very painful when I do and the only way to shift it is to lie down (not always possible).  Never seemed to find out why it happens, couldn't put it down to any particular food.  You have my sympathy.

Hi Bo, I read your article with interest as I have the exact same symptons as you and with no diarrhoea. It all started about 8 years ago producing a lot of saliva this eventually progressed to feeling extremely tired and bloated which eventually led to being sick, I would then sleep for 24-36 hours outright after that I would then start to be on the mend and regain my strength. I was diagnosed with Crohns disease by a private consultant after a CT scan who said to me that I was the type that would end up having surgery eventually.

Due to circumstances out of my control I lost my private care but managed to see the same consultant on the NHS but this became a burden as the hospital was quite a way from my home and as I had been in remission for just over a year I decided to change to a hospitals closer to home.

My local hospital said that I would have to have both scopes and a barium test as he wanted to be sure I had Crohns himself these results didn't tell him much which I knew wouldn't as I had had these tests previously without results. By this time I was beginning to have flare ups again and changed my medication from Pentasa to Aziathoiprine, my new consultant said that because I had responded well it was an indication that I did have Crohns!

This past year I was having more frequent flare ups so my consultant arranged for a MRI Scan within 12 weeks I was having a Ileo-caecal resection as the scans showed I had Ileal stricutres. The surgeon took 20cms of small and 5cm of large bowel.

My consultant has still not comitted himself to say that I do have Crohns although he has written that I was very symptomatic and I am still waiting final confirmation of the histology report. It has been 4 weeks since my operation and I feel great and have stopped the steriods now with no flare up.

What did you MRI scan suggest? Have you had surgery?
