Oh I feel cr*p today!! I'm so bloated and uncomfortable! I'm down to 20mg of prednisolone and I wish I never went gone on them.  They found my crohns kinda by accident. Since beening on the high dose of steroids I've realised how well I can feel, prior to the steriods I never realisted how unwell I felt!
I'm feeling sorry for myself! And I'm so tired! At 26 I should be out, but 7:30 and I'm in pj's in bed! My specialist wants me to go onto mp-6, I'm not convinced, it's sounds very scary! Is anyone else on it?? Has it helped things? I'm going to have a colonoscopy in the next few weeks, which I'm really dreading!! My crohns has been diagnosied in the rectum, but my
specialist is sure I have it in the colon! I'm really hating this disease today!! Sorry about the self pitty!!

Hey Jemma, don't you worry about feeling sorry for yourself, you're allowed to every now & then! Lol. I know how you feel, I'm 25 & always feel drained & like going to bed instead of going out. It is crap & it makes you think that by the time you feel better, (which we will!), we'll be too old to go out partying!! Haha. I'm going to ibiza next week & I'm really worried how I'll cope. But looking forward to the break. Will just have to relax if I don't feel well enough to go as mad as I'd like.

Can't help you with the 6-mp, but I'd advise you to start taking it if that's what they're offering. It will help maintain your remission & will help you benefit from the positive effects of the steroids for longer. I've been on azathioprine, which is pretty much the same thing. I didn't have any side effects from it but as I wasn't actually in remission, the drug didn't really help me either. If you have dealt with the side effects of steroids, you can deal with anything! Please read my thread if you'd like to hear about my own experience.

Good luck anyway, keep going & don't give up trying!

xx

Yeah know how you feel.  I'm, 22 and at the minute i'm working full time and trying to do stuff to hand in at uni over the next few weeks.  I'm shattered at work by 3pm never mind by the time i get home and should be starting into uni stuff.  I'm really burning the candles at both ends trying to do it all and cannot wait for it to be finished because i feel like i could sleep for a month.

I'm nearly finished the steroid course and have started on imuran, but am not on it long enough to tell if it is working or doing crazy things to me!

Don't worry about the colonoscopy.  This is coming from someone who didn't return to the doctor about the problems for 3 years after a colonoscopy was suggested!  I absolutely dreaded it like i've never dreaded anything before, but genuinely it is nowhere near as bad as i (and perhaps you) think it will be.  The worst bit is the fasting beforehand! lol.

The steroids do intially do wonderous things but i'm seriously fed up with the the terrible acne they've given me.

Hang in there and just try to get as much rest as you can and hopefully you'll maybe get a bit of a boost in energy

Nicola - are you still on the imuran (azathioprine)?  Just when you said about ibizia it reminded me something about you are supposed to be careful of the sun when on the medication and should use high factor sun cream-i think anyway.

Hi Liverpool, yes you're correct it does increase sensitivity to the sun, but I came off all my medication in September so it will be long gone from my system now! Thankfully )

I find that prednisolone makes me very tired, although my brain still seems to work fine.  I can get what I feel is a good night's unbroken sleep but wake up feeling totally shattered.  I find it extremely difficult to get up in the morning and to get out to work.  I started on 20mg this time and am down to 15mg at the mo.

I think it's because the body is in 'overdrive' trying to fix itself.  I get the shakes from the pred (more like full body trembling) most of the time.  I mentioned this to the specialist and he didn't say anything so I figure it must be a normal reaction.

Caffeine is a wonderful product if you can tolerate it, I find that Coca-Cola does me the best (none of the diet stuff!), coffee often gives me a headache but I have it every so often anyway.  I don't find any difference with the coke and the various energy drinks available even though they have some interesting sounding products like taurine in them, coke is cheaper too!

I hope you feel better soon.

I used to get frequent bloating and acid reflux which kept me awake most of the night. Recently started
started taking a digestive supplement, The Dr best digestive enzymes and not only has my acid reflux
gone but they have reduced the frequency of needing the toilet to.
