I have never been on a Crohns forum before so this is very new to me. I was diagnosed back in 99 and had several relapses, a couple of them very serious. After a recent relapse I thought I had better take my illness a lot more seriously and get help from others who suffer. I have never spoken to anyone that has Crohns so would be great to speak to people who are in the same boat as me. Be good to here from you.

I was diagnosed back in 97 and felt crap long before that.  I to have had lots of relapses, I have been off work for the last year now because of crohns.  I have just undergone a bowel resection where they removed 30 cm.  I had a rh hemicolectomy about 5 years ago.  Are you on any meds at the minute?  Iv been told to stay of them by my surgeon untill I c my GI doc.  Thing is, I think that im having another flare up.  Bloody nitemare!!

Thanks for the reply, jesus sounds like your suffering. I had a bowel resection back in 2000 and was fine for about 4 years then I had the worst relapse ever and how I did lose my bowel I don't know! Lucky enough after a month in hospital things improved and I have been on meds ever since. Does my head in to be honest and hate putting things in my body but then I suppose if they help!? Sorry to hear you have been off work for a year, that is a long time. When is your next appt? If you think you are having flare you need to get back to doc asap so they can get it early and maybe some steroids will blast it away.

How you getting on?

Yea been a bit of nitemare year or so!!  Iv tried everything under the sun but nothing worked thats why I had my re-section 2 weeks ago.  I know what you mean about hating this bloody disease, worst of off is when people see you and they say ' there's nothing wrong with you, you look fine'. That really does my head in.  I am waiting for my GI to get back to me, my doc is as much use as an ejector seat in a helicoptor!!!  I cant take steriods as it makes me go mad, when I first got diagnosed they put on 150mg of pred for about a year.  Boy, I hated them things!!!
