Hi,

Im new to this forum after being diagnosed with Crohn's disease last month. At first I thought I had accepted it, knew all about it and tried to move on but obviously was wrong!

I've been prescribed 2 types of medication by a consultant, 1 type is pentasa, 2000mg twice a day. I have had no affects using this medication until the past few nights where i have taken them before bed and within 5 minutes vomiting in the bathroom and then feeling fine. I was wondering if anybody else uses the same medication or have similar effects on different medication.

But mainly wanted to say Hi!

Hi All,
Just a comment about Pentasa, I`ve been taking 3000mg for about 10 years now and although it`s a bit of a chore because I`ve got to break them into two halves .
This doubles the quantity,so I take them four halves at a time at different times of the day and they seem to suit me.
You could try this ,It may work for you or you could grind them into a powder and take them that way.
Please let me know how you get on.
Good luck!!
Delilah.

My IBD nurse has just introduced me to Pentasa granules and it has made the world of difference! I have always struggled with the tablets making me feel sick and as a result have been very bad at taking them. With the granules you just pour them on your tongue and guzzle a glass of water to wash them down. It feels wierd, but is far less vomit inducing than the tablets.

Hope that helps!

Hey guys. Thanks for your help. Especially Delilah. I too have had to break them in half. I use to be able to take any medication size dosage all in one go but since I was on alot of meds 7 months ago for an abscess I haven't been the same! I have just been able to take them whole and you've reminded me it's been since then I've felt sick. Although it doubles the dosage I think I'll try breaking them in half again.
If this doesn't help I'll try then granules!

Thanks for all your replies!!
