I have had it a few times when i was in quite abit of pain and they said the markers were fine, yh and they just sent me home.

I have not been tested for HLA-B27, but i have just read up on it and the AS, and it said that AS can often look like crohn's.

Thanks,
Cam

I'm also 320 on the inside and hitting 40 on the outside this year, now the outside is catching up with inside lol....  Where does the A.S affect you and have you got the HLA-B27 factor?  What pain relief are you on?  Have you any other auto-immune diseases?  Is it in your family?

Blood tests really annoy me. I can tell when my son is well and when he is in a flare up without any type of test being done. The annoying thing is that my sons blood tests always, always come back normal. Even when he was bleeding severley from his back passage and awaiting surgery for his ileostomy his blood tests were completely normal and on removal of his large intestine the biopsies showed severe, chronic inflammation. It just doesnt add up.

So.... when the doctors say to us it cant be a flare up because his bloods are normal I remind them of this fact. Usually does the trick !

Thanks Bev, that's good to know, I'll be blasting them the next time I see them.  I've been on the Aza since last year and every time I've had a blood test it comes back normal.  I know it's not right but they are suppose to be the professionals and our lives are in their hands.  I am aware that some med's can give false blood results but it also made me think that sometimes when a pain signal has been going to the brain for a long period of time that signal may still be sent even though the pain is no longer there.  They thought this about me regarding my back problems and put me on amiltriptolene (mild anti-depressant) it stops the signals being sent.  Which is all well and good it that is the case........  Which in these circumstances is NOT the case but it gets the old grey matter going....  and as I suffer with other conditions I'm always self diagnosing and medicating... I should just cut out the middle man lol.......
